Faith Over Fear: Trusting God When You Feel Anxious

If we’re being honest, life can feel a little heavy sometimes. The laundry piles up, the to-do list keeps growing, and before we know it, that familiar knot of anxiety settles into our chest. I’ve been there — more times than I can count.

But here’s the sweet truth I’m learning:

We don’t have to face fear alone. God is right there with us — holding us steady, even when our hearts feel anything but. Today, let’s slow down together, breathe deep, and remember: Faith isn’t the absence of fear. It’s choosing to trust God right in the middle of it.

When Fear Feels Bigger Than Faith:

I used to think that if I felt afraid, I must be doing something wrong. But the Bible doesn’t say, “Never feel fear.” It says, “Do not stay afraid — because I am with you.”

“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

— Isaiah 41:10 (ESV)

Our security doesn’t come from figuring it all out.

It comes from knowing Who holds us — and trusting that His hands are strong enough.

3 Ways to Choose Faith When Anxiety Hits

Here are a few cozy, real-life ways I’m learning to lean into Jesus when fear tries to steal my peace:

1. Breathe in His Promises

Sometimes I just close my eyes, take a deep breath, and whisper His Word over my worry.

Here are a few simple Scriptures to keep tucked close:

  • “When I am afraid, I put my trust in You.” (Psalm 56:3)
  • “The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him.” (Psalm 28:7)

2. Tell Him Everything (Yes, Everything)

You don’t have to pretty up your prayers. God already knows — and He’s not overwhelmed by your overwhelm.

“Cast all your cares on Him, because He cares for you.”

— 1 Peter 5:7 (CSB)

Pour it out. Big worries, small worries, tangled-up feelings — He can handle it.

3. Remember His Faithfulness

Think back for a moment:

When was the last time God showed up for you in a way you couldn’t explain? He’s still that faithful today. Write it down if you need to — those reminders build our faith for the next hard thing.

A Prayer for Anxious Days:

“Jesus, You see every anxious thought in my heart. Thank You for loving me right here, right now. Help me to breathe deep and remember You are bigger than anything I’m facing. Hold me close today. Lead me gently into Your peace. In Your precious name, Amen.”

Sweet friend, whatever you’re carrying today — you don’t have to carry it alone. You’re seen. You’re loved. And you’re held by a God who never, ever lets go.

With so much love,
